General Information


Members of Derllys Court Golf Club who are 55+ are invited to join our Seniors Section. We run a full programme of Competitions and Seniors Team Matches. Upon a payment of £10-00 registration fee which is valid for the life time of your membership.
This fee serves to identify members who are entitled to enter any Seniors Competition and compete for prizes, be considered for selection for Seniors Team Matches and to benefit from subsidised green fees for Senior Competitions.
Members, to be able to compete for Prizes and wishing to be selected for Team Events, also to be able to compete in our Knockout Competitions MUST maintain an active Club Competition Handicap and maintain it throughout the season.

Phil Mountjoy is now responsible for the Seniors Web Site. Entry Sheets and the Posting of Tee Times.
Members are asked to keep an eagle eye out on the Seniors Notice Board, where Competition
Entry Sheets will be posted. All Competitions will have a set Deadline Date and Time. Members are asked to enter their names before Entry Sheets are removed on the deadline date.
Members will then be allocated Tee Times for the Competition, which they have entered. If you need a preferred Tee Time please indicate it on the Entry Sheet.

Competition Entry Fees will usually be £5-00, Members are asked to ensure the match fee is paid before going to tee off. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your allocated tee time, minimising inconvenience to other Members. It is important that we keep to our allocated Tee Times.
In the event that you are unable to Play or Keep to Your Tee Time inform Graham Bebb as soon as possible.
Members Please Note it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to fail to turn up without prior Notification. Failing to give prior notification will incur a £2-00 fine which will be donated to the Captains Charity.
The Seniors Section Website will be regularly updated by Phil Mountjoy and will contain information related to both completed and forthcoming Competitions and Team Matches.
This is our Main Summer Season Competition and is played over 18 Holes, full handicap.
It is played over a period of Ten Tuesday mornings throughout the summer period starting on Tuesday 23rd. April 2019. This year we are doing something different, we will be Playing 5 rounds of Stableford and 5 rounds of Stroke play. After each Tuesday’s Competition the best Nine Scores will be identified. 10pts will be awarded for the best score to 2pts for the ninth best score. All other competitors will be awarded 1 point.
At the conclusion of the League Matches, a maximum of the Best 8 Scores out of 10 with determine the overall Winner and Runner Up for the Dawn Patrol.
Something new again this year hopefully making our competitions even more enjoyable for our Members,
The Competitions will be split into three divisions, giving members more of a chance to be in the Prizes.
The Divisions will be made up as follows:- 1-17, 18-21, 22+.
There will be a new Competition this year, THE VETERANS TROPHY, replacing the 20/20 competition.
This New Veterans Competition will be for our 70+ age group members. Qualification date, members have to be 70 or over before the 1st April 2019.The Veterans Trophy will be run on a similar League basis as the Dawn Patrol. Points awarded for the first four places 5/4/3/2 then 1pt awarded to all other competing members. The Veterans can gain points when entering all our Qualifying Competitions. That is Ten Dawn Patrol events, First Round Only of the Presidents Cup and any other Arranged Qualifying Singles Event.
The Winner and Runner Up will be decided, selecting the entrants best eight Competitions Results.
The overall winner and runner up in both Competitions will receive prizes at our end of season prize giving event.
In addition, when each Tuesday’s league event is played, prizes will be awarded in the 3 handicap divisions as stated above. A prize will also be awarded to anyone scoring a “2” on any hole, or indeed a hole in one!
We also run Seniors Singles and Senior Pairs Knockout Competitions.
The closing Dates for these Competitions is 31st. March 2019.
Members are asked to read the Rules associated to these Competitions and Most Important of all members must keep to the Competitions Stipulated Deadline Dates. Members please note, all competitors, are now responsible for arranging suitable dates for when their knockout games are to be played.
We are running a very varied Golfing programme this Summer Season, there is something going on every Tuesday from Single Stableford events to Pairs Competitions and Team Events entry sheets will be on the notice boards. We will also be holding our annual Ladies vs Seniors event to be held on Tuesday 14th May, a very competitive and popular event.
Last but not least don’t forget to enter the Wales Golf Green some Competition, this year the final will be Played at Morlais Castle Golf Club ,Merthyr. Thursday 19th. September 2019.
Our Seniors Championship. This Great Event will be played on Tuesday 30th July 2019, with the Qualifiers playing again on Thursday 1st. August 2019. The player with the best gross score will be crowned “The Derllys Court Seniors Champion for 2019”. There will be prizes awarded for the best nett score on each day, in all handicap divisions. There will also be a Veterans Prize. We will be having a two’s competition as well.
Entrants Must Have Played in at Least Three Seniors Qualifying Competitions events since 1st April 2019 to be eligible to win this competition.
Throughout the Season we have organised Team Matches against a number of local golf clubs these are run on a home and away basis. These dates are shown on our Summer Seniors Programme. Again keep your eye on the Seniors Notice board, enter your name on the Team Sheet. When the team has been selected the Team Sheet will be posted on the Web Site and on the Notice Board. This is a great way to visit and play other golf courses in our locality.
We are pleased to Support the South Wales Seniors Classic Event. Again we have entered two teams in this event which supports the South Wales Air Ambulance.
