Club Championship 2010

The annual 36 hole Club Championship was held today, and after a first round there were a few people showing good form. Martin Thomas had 76, Richard Davies (Tiger) 74, and Barry McLean 73. However it was Richard Leefe who looked on course to take the title with ‘steady’ opening round of 71.
Congratulations goes to Peter Davies ‘Harpo’ for a Hole-In-One on 2, Described nicely as a “one bounce and in”… and apparently nearly repeating it in the second round!
The Second round threw up some surprises as many of the early contenders fell away with some double figure scores being carded too! (cough, cough – ‘caddy boy’ Tom Boucher carded a 14!).
Leefe had a poor second round and finished in 6th place. Martin Thomas remained steady and shot another 76, finishing 3rd overall. Barry McLean shot a second round 78 to finish 2nd, but is was Tiger who remained solid with a second round of 75 to win by 2, a combined total of 149.

J.L.Jones Memorial Cup

The J L Jones Medal Cup was held on Sunday 1st August in memory of Les Jones, a founder member of the club who passed away in January.
Les was a familiar face in the club who was highly respected by everyone who knew him.
Winner of the overall Prize for Best Gross Score was Martin Thomas who shot 73. Martin gets his name on the cup and a commemorative gold Medal. Winner of the best Net category was Niel Evans (Mouse) who shot 64 net and takes away a Silver Medal.

Medal June 27th

On a fantastic day for golf, the course played short, and the players took full advantage as the sun continued to shine.
Division 1 and third overall was taken by Anthony Jones, Neil Evans (Mouse) took second overall. Division 3 was won by Robert Smith. Aled Snelling took division 2 and the overall win with a net 60.
